A leading Wiltshire equipment manufacturer has strengthened its team and given 13 long-term unemployed people the chance to build a career with the firm.
BG Automotive (BGA), based on the Cheney Manor Industrial Estate in Swindon, is the aftermarket division of the British Gaskets Group – a leading original equipment Gasket and Engine Component manufacturer and a distributor to many of the world’s vehicle and industrial factories.
The company has been working with youth and adult learning provider TBG Learning to help strengthen its team since 1999, and has welcomed 13 new recruits enrolled with the organisation over the last 12 months.
TBG Learning, based on Station Road in Swindon, is delivering the Government’s Work Programme on behalf of JobFit which helps the long-term unemployed into work through a package of support and assistance.
The most recent recruits include Katie Jones, Giovanni Fiocca and Sanita Lidbiard who have all taken advantage of logistics training at BGA, and since gone on to gain roles within the firm’s warehouse and production teams.
Richard Anderson, warehouse manager at BGA, has expressed his delight at the new recruits and the company’s on-going partnership with TBG Learning.
“The partnership with TBG Learning has been great for us,” he said.
“It has involved us offering placements in the warehouse to help unemployed people gain work experience, and many of the learners have gone on to be employed and have been with us ever since.
“Everyone within the company is key to the success of BGA, and it has been great to provide new opportunities.
“We are really pleased with the latest recruits and look forward to helping develop their skills and continue to play an important role in the growth of the business.”
Lynne Packer, placement advisor at TBG Learning, said the company had built a strong relationship with BGA over the years.
“BGA create great opportunities for people to get their careers up and running, or kick-started,” she said.
“We offer support to people who have struggled to gain unemployment, or get their foot in the door, through a mix of training and career guidance.
“BGA have been great supporters of offering opportunities and we’re delighted they are continuing to grow.”
