Motor dealer Pebley Beach has become the first franchised garage in Swindon to be approved as female friendly by the UK’s only motoring club exclusively for women drivers.
As part of this business partnership, Pebley Beach customers receive gift membership of Foxy Lady Drivers Club and existing Foxy members in Swindon can now add Pebley Beach discounts and special offers to their range of club benefits. But for the dealership, this accreditation means much more than that: it’s further recognition for the firm’s award-winning levels of customer service.
“Garages are traditionally quite a macho domain, and some women find a visit to the garage an intimidating experience,” explained Pebley Beach managing director Dominic Threlfall. “They may feel patronised, or suspect that they’re being overcharged for work.
“To reassure them, every Foxy Lady Approved garage signs a pledge to ‘never overcharge, patronise or sell women services they don’t need.’ As a garage that has won, and continues to win, awards for our customer service, that’s a promise we find easy to make, and to keep as we apply that philosophy to all customers.”
Foxy also demands measurable evidence of quality workmanship, price transparency, local car collection services, a comfortable waiting room with drinks made available and female magazines to read, and women in customer-facing roles.
“Pebley Beach is a very female-friendly environment,” said Dom. We have female sales staff, and female service advisors. In fact, 60 percent of our customer facing staff are female – not bad for a typically male environment!”
Earlier this month (July), Pebley Beach became the first ever recipient of the Aftersales Excellence Award at the prestigious Motor Trader Awards, and was voted most trusted garage in the South West by customers in a competition run by national reviews website Motor Codes for the second year in a row.
And back in February the firm won the award for Excellence in Aftersales at the AM Awards – so it’s fair to say they’ve won the golden globe & the Oscars of the motor industry.
