Sports therapist teams up with award-winning teenage blogger

Teenage book ‘vlogger’ Lucy Powrie has joined forces with sports therapist Sam Cox to help take her business into the ‘YouTube’ age.

Sports therapist Sam, 37, who founded Wiltshire-based company Active Potential Therapy, has recruited Lucy to help her develop a video channel online.

Lucy, a student at Abbeyfields School in Chippenham, is an accomplished blogger and ‘vlogger’ or video-blogger. She’s known nationally as a book reviewer of teenage fiction and has over 3,000 subscribers to her YouTube channel ‘Lucy The Reader’.

She’s been a guest speaker at the Oxford and Cheltenham Literary Festivals and this year won the Champion Blogger title at the UKYA Awards 2015 for her support of authors and publishers. Lucy is 15 and will take her GCSEs next year.

Sam Cox is one of the south west’s most respected sports therapists, working with elite athletes including members of the GB Skeleton team such as James Howard. She’s also the go-to sports therapist for the Chippenham Harriers and the Chippenham Amateur Swimming Club and a member of the Society of Sports Therapists. Sam’s company is based on the Bumper’s Farm Industrial Estate in Chippenham.

Sam said: “I want to provide videos which help and support people who exercise or those who want to keep mobile. Working with Lucy, who is an amazing young woman, was obvious when the opportunity came up. She is helping me create my own videos to help people with activities such as stretching right through to nutrition and healthy eating.”

For Lucy, the opportunity to take some of her own expertise and use it to help a Wiltshire entrepreneur, has been too good to miss.

Lucy said: “This is really exciting for me – a learning curve. I do hope to run my own business helping others create a credible and thriving online video stream. I started mine three years ago because I love reading and I wanted to share my love of books. I did it because it was fun and it’s given me opportunities I could not have imagined. Now I hope to help Sam do the same.”
