Monahans Breakfast Club tackles the region’s housing crisis

September 20, 2017 @ 7:30 am - 9:00 am

£12.95

Innovative solutions to the UK’s housing crisis will be in the spotlight at the next Monahans Breakfast Club, with guest speaker Gerraint Oakley, managing director at social housing provider and housebuilder Curo.

With average monthly private rents currently standing at £731pcm in the South West, local people now have to spend 35% of their salary on rent alone.  Curo believes that the traditional housing supply must be supported by modern solutions, to help solve the UK housing shortage.

Curo currently have shared ownership properties across the region, as well as the recently sold out development of Drew’s Meadow in Devizes and their flagship Mulberry Park development in Bath.

Gerraint will be speaking about Mulberry Park, which is due to deliver 700 new homes including 30% affordable, as well as plans to use the profit from this scheme to regenerate the neighbouring housing estate, Foxhill.

Simon Cooper, Partner at Monahans, said:“The housing crisis is something that affects a large number of people in our region. Ensuring that everyone has an affordable place to live will underpin the success of our local economy.  Curo’s solutions could transform the sector and we’re very pleased to welcome Gerraint Oakley to the Breakfast Club.”

The Monahans Breakfast Club will take place on September 20 at Chippenham Golf Club.  The event starts at 7.30am for networking with either cooked or continental breakfast served at 8.00 am. Places cost £12.95 and can be booked at www.monahans.co.uk/events.
